I found the most stable way to use the gorillapod on the jacket is to hang one of the legs of the pod into the external pocket of my jacket, then spread the other two legs sideways to the left and right southeast and southwest direction.

The disadvantage using the gorillapod on the jacket is that I can't see the screen, but you should be able to with your camera's screen turning around.

Looks kind of like this:

With the middle leg being inside the pocket.

For rainy days, if I really wanted to capture video, I use cling film to cover all areas of the camera apart from the lens itself. You can do the same if you really want to try it out Rolling Eyes

It looks like it might cheer up a bit this afternoon so I'll wait a bit and see.

I've realised that Windows Movie Maker can rotate video so I've rotated my car video and I'll just add some music (as you can hear my car radio but it's a bit disjointed as I paused the recording when I was stuck in traffic for a while) and then I'll upload it to you-tube.

Ok..

the car commute video:

Unfortunately the camera battery died before I get to my destination (I hadn't actually charged it at all, just took it out of the box and used it). The suction cup seen at top right is actually from my phone holder not the camera mount. I should have removed it before mounting the camera.

Camera = cheap Vivitar DVR 530 on 640x480 on max compression setting (Normal).

Edited in Windows movie maker (flipped because camera was mounted upside down) and sped up. Saved as WMV so was compressed again after editing.

Due to the car being a lot smoother than the scooter the mount is much more suitable for this application. Not that I'll be taking vids like this often..

That would be the best place, the camera is light enough, though a little big... it'd be difficult to control though. I think it's easier with an action cam or something like this:

Nice video - how did you mount the camera in the helmet??!! Question

Well my idea Idea for mounting the camera just in my Hi-vis jacket worked really well. I got some great video of this morning's ride... I'll upload it to you-tube and then post it in the showroom or somewhere.. I've just spend an hour or so editing it - bloody vista doesn't work very well when you're trying to edit long bits of film.

The film I took lasts 22 minutes but I've edited it down to just under ten minutes by speeding the more boring bits up. Windows movie maker won't show a preview when you're trying to edit large files so I had to cut it and speed bits up in Ulead video editor (the software I got with the camera), but for some reason there's a problem with the sound in that so I couldn't add the music. So I had to save the edited video (which was just under 10 minutes) as an avi best quality, then re-open it in WMM to add the titles and music Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes WMM can show the preview when the video is less than 10 minutes long. - some problem to do with my graphics chipset but there's nothing I can do except the above!

Anyway it looks great even if I do say so myself...

I didn't mount it I just put it in and my nose is pushing it to the visor and that's it it blocks some of my view but not to much

Ahh I wondered how you did it.

My camera is the wrong shape for that. Laughing

Just stuffing a mini tripod into my jacket has worked wonders for the picture stability!!!

I got my gorillapod and tried it in thejacket. It works really well. very stable, and I don't think there's much chance that the camera will fall out now.

I've also got a 2GB card in the camera now which allows up to 1 hour 20minutes record time on Fine quality 640x480 and probaby about 1 hour 40 on normal.

I can't wait for sunday's rideout so I can try it out!!
