Sorry Bobo. Must have had brain fade. I meant to quote Mottza. Embarassed

On the principle that you can't please all the people all the time, I'm keeping the date as the 29th June. Sorry.

The meeting point will be Tesco at Great Dunmow. The rest of the details are still subject to me finding time to recce the route. Petrol won't be a problem as there will be plenty of opportunities to get a fill along the way. I'll post up more information and a rough itinerary in the coming week or two.

CM6 1SF is the post code for Tesco, for those who want to check via maps.

About 40 minutes to the start for me on a Sunday..... you never know I may just turn up. I doubt I'll do the whole run though as I'll be exhausted.

2-3 hrs riding is about my limit before the leg gets to painful to ride. So I may consider doing part, but not all.

Have recce'd the ride with Mottza (the Human Rain Magnet) today and have a final plan sorted in my mind.

The outbound leg will be as originally planned. Meet at Tesco in Great Dunmow at 8:30am for a 9am departure. We'll have a break on Angel Hill in Bury St Edmunds leaving there at 10:30am, so anyone wanting to join the ride there would be most welcome. With another quick breather at East Dereham I expect we should get to Sheringham at 1-2pm and will park up somewhere on The Esplanade.

So, who's in?

East Anglian Odyessey reccy ride...

As I couldn't make the ride Andy/ThatMan invited me out on his reccy rideout yesterday. This ride was big one!

Anyway I set off about 7.45 from Colchester and made my way to Great Dunmow Tesco's where we would meet. 25 miles later I got there early to find Andy there. Spent a little while chatting and got some petrol and cash.

Straight away we was on some great roads known to many bikers as the Finchingfield bends. It was quite obvious that the T-max was way better scoot than my old B125 (then again it does cost 6x more). Got settled in for a while and enjoyed the scenery. We flew through some nice roads after Finchingfield and headed towards Haverhill.

Once into Suffolk I remembered the stupid speed limits they have where a Villages 30-40mph limit extends for 1-2miles outside the village. Now I am in agreement that we should not be zipping through little villages and that. But for slow speed limit to carry on after the village has passed is stupid.

From Haverhill we followed the A143 to Bury St Edmunds where we stopped in town for a brew and a very nice sausage and egg sandwich.
Throughout the morning so far my hayfever was getting really bad. But it started raining and although I hate the rain whilst on the bike it cleared the air and allowed me to enjoy the ride.

From Bury we followed the A134 to Thetford where the roads were fast and we overtook a few slowcoaches. From Thetford it was on the A1075 to Watton and onwwards towards Dereham. Dereham looked quite a nice place and was tempted to stop there but we decided to press on.

We folloed the B1110 to a placed called Guist and then a unclassified road to Holt. This road needed care as it had been resurfaced with that shitty tar and then a load of stones thrown on top which meant a slippery surface. Hopefully that will be gone by the time the actual rideout takes place.

We arrived at Holt and I was so tempted to stop for a rest but realised that we were only 6 miles from the destination. As we arrived at Sherringham out destination the sun came out and was nice and warm. It had been raining quite lightly all morning.

We spent a hour or two milling around. Andy kindly bought me a pint of wherry and then enjoyed some very fish n chips on the seafront.

We left about 2.15 and headed over to Cromer on the A149 and then down to Norwich on the A140. Andy guided me through the town centre and then we headed off on our own way (myself down the A140 and Andy down the A11).

The A140 south was boring as usual and wasn't pleasant as I was heading into a strong headwind and was getting blown about a bit. One thing to note was the lack of petrol stations on the A140 between Norwich and the A14. A quick blast down the A14 and then filled up at the Tesco's at Copdock interchange. The B managed to do 280kms/175miles on a tank which was pretty good.

I headed off down the A12 and cut off at Langam and went down the lanes. Managed to get home in time to meet wife at work and a few pints of Kronenburg 1664.

Was a long day and did 210 miles and probably nearly six hours of riding. I really ache today!

Again thanks to Andy for a great day. Those who are going will have a really good ride.

Bobo, no photo's as we was too busy riding.

Use google you lazy northerner... CM6 1SF

Down M11 to Stansted. Pick up A120 for Braintree. Then B1256 for Great Dunmow and 1-2 miles will be Tesco on the right by the roundabout.

I'll wait as long as I can, but it is a long rideout and I don't want to delay too long. Best you text me if you're running late so I know.
